Poem

A sunbeam in a sugared guise,
You wait, your golden layers stacked—
Beneath the glaze, a citrus prize,
A tang the tongue has long unpacked.

Your frosting, pale as morning’s light,
Is whipped from zest and velvet cream—
A cloud that dances, soft and bright,
Upon this lemon-lover’s dream.

Between each tier, a secret spills:
Lemon cream, both tart and sweet,
It pools and swirls, the heart it thrills,
A summer day that I can eat.

Oh lemon cake, you sing of spring,
Of laughter, youth, and kitchens warm—
And every bite, a gentle zing,
A gentle, golden, sunlit storm.

Lyric

[Verse]
A slice of sunshine on my plate
Yellow layers
Can’t escape fate
Sweet tangy twist
Oh it’s so divine
Sugar and zest
Love intertwined

[Chorus]
Lemon cake
Lemon cake
Every bite’s a dance I can’t fake
Frosting bright
Filling inside
Lemon cake
Where joy resides

[Verse 2]
Cut through the layers
Secrets unfold
A burst of citrus
Never gets old
Golden glow
It steals the show
One bite in
The world moves slow

[Chorus]
Lemon cake
Lemon cake
Every bite’s a dance I can’t fake
Frosting bright
Filling inside
Lemon cake
Where joy resides

[Bridge]
Tangy whispers
Sweet little kiss
A love like this
You can’t dismiss
It’s the taste of summer
A sunny embrace
Lemon cake
You’re my happy place

[Chorus]
Lemon cake
Lemon cake
Every bite’s a dance I can’t fake
Frosting bright
Filling inside
Lemon cake
Where joy resides
